Two juveniles apprehended in fatal stabbing of teenager

Police have identified other co-accused involved in the incident. Raids are being conducted and they will be arrested soon, officials said.

For their alleged connection, the Chandigarh Police has apprehended two juveniles within 24 hours of the fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old in Maloya. According to the police, an FIR was registered on Wednesday for murder of the teenager at the Maloya police station.

According to police, a message was received from the police post in PGIMER on January 20 at around 9.01 pm stating that Mohit (18), had been admitted to PGIMER after being stabbed. Despite medical treatment, Mohit succumbed to his injuries.

During the investigation, the statement of the victim’s brother, Sandeep, was recorded. He told police that Mohit had earlier told him over the phone about receiving death threats from a resident of Behlourpur in Mohali district.

On January 20, Mohit was standing with his cousin when the accused, along with his friends, allegedly abused and stabbed him in the back.

The victim was rushed to PGIMER in a private Alto car, where he was later declared dead.

Police said that two juveniles involved in the crime were apprehended on January 21 and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, Sector 25, Chandigarh.

A knife used in the crime has also been recovered from their possession. Meanwhile, police have identified other co-accused involved in the incident. Raids are being conducted and they will be arrested soon, officials said.

A team from the police station in Maloya, headed by SHO Inspector Jasbir Singh, claimed to have cracked the case.
