Suzuki inspects Manesar plant

Suzuki Motor Corporation chairman Osamu Suzuki on Monday visited Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant where violence had broken out on July 18 leading to the death of one senior executive while injuring several others

Suzuki Motor Corporation chairman Osamu Suzuki on Monday visited Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant where violence had broken out on July 18 leading to the death of one senior executive while injuring several others. Suzuki was accompanied by Maruti Suzuki India managing director,Shinzo Nakanishi,COO (production) MM Singh,and COO administration SY Siddiqui during his four-hour plant visit.

Inspecting the plant,Suzuki met the supervisors and took stock of the production facility,which had remained shut for over a month in the wake of the violence. Contrary to reports that Suzuki might give the riot hit production facility a skip,he is believed to have skipped a scheduled meeting with the company’s vendors in order to visit the Manesar plant,sources said.

The plant A and B together have an installed annual capacity of 5.5 lakh units. Once ready,plant C would add another 2.5 lakh units to it the overall capacity of the Manesar plant.

Suzuki who is on a week long visit to the country will attend the annual general meeting of the company on Tuesday before he concludes his India visit. He also visited Gujarat where the company has announced an investment of Rs 4,000 crore to build another production facility on over 700 acres at Mehsana district and met chief minister Narendra Modi.
