Sushma mantra for cadres: Unity,booth-level activity

Says loss in Himachal,Uttarakhand due to lack of unity

While Rajnath Singh and L K Advani asked party leaders to shun the tendency for chhapaas grabbing headlines by speaking out of turn,Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj called for unity within the ranks and getting down to booth-level management for ensuring victory in elections.

The foundation of our resolve will be hinged on two parameters unity and activity. We should realise that only one person can get ticket from among the many eligible. The others should not work for defeating the one selected. We must pledge to remain united to get victory in the electoral battle, Swaraj said while addressing party workers at the BJPs national council meet here.

To buttress her point,she did not hesitate to suggest,without taking names of rival factions,that the BJP failed in Himachal Pradesh this year and Uttarakhand last year on account of lack of unity.

She also emphasised the need for workers to get active at the booth-level to convert the potential wave into a final success. Elections are won with the combination of hawaa wave and booth management. Even if we slack in one,we will fail. Everyone must get active down till the booth level, Swaraj said,reminding about her experience in the contest against Sonia Gandhi in Bellary. She said she had managed to create a hawaa in her favour,but lost out to Sonia Gandhi because of lack of proper booth management.

Rajnath Singh and Advani cautioned party leaders against speaking out of turn.

Everyone must observe restraint in their utterances. Even we senior leaders must be restrained. I think this signal should be sufficient, the party president said.

There should be discipline in the party. This tendency to start speaking out of turn whenever a TV camera is thrust in front8230;there is a growing tendency of chhapaas, Advani said.

Advani praises Sushma oratory

L K Advani chose to shower praise on Sushma Swaraj and equated her oratorial skills with that of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Advani said he regrets that he does not have oratorial skills like Vajpayee but Swaraj had such traits. Sushma gives me the same complex that Vajpayee used to give me. I tell Sushma that you create this complex in me, he said. As he began his speech,Advani said he could not say anything better than what Sushma had said before him. She has explained everything such eloquently. She has even analysed why we lost in some states,where there was a hattrick,where there is likely to be hattrick and where we could not win, Advani said.
