Antony Gomes,in his mid-60s,was yet another lucky survivor. He fought for life a good 10 hours, with his lower half stuck in a mangled corner of the train.

Gomes desperately called out to rescuers the name of Sudip Bandopadhyay,a Trinamool Congress MP. He identified himself as a political worker of the Congress and even in such a precarious condition pulled out an identity card to show his credential. You please call Bandopadhyay and take my name,he will definitely do something to extricate me out of this hell, shouted Gomes. The railway medical team managed to administer two bottles of saline that probably kept him ticking.

A 13-member team from Balaji Telefilms had a providential escape. The members were spread between S-3 and S-6 compartments. Aman Kumar,Ranjit Atih and Vijay Kumar, from different districts of Bihar, had been sent to Kolkata to shoot for a new order the company had bagged. We were chatting when the train first shook and there was a massive explosion like sound. We lost sense and do not remember what happened next. But we are lucky to have survived, said Vijay, who is from Madhubani.
