Sterlite Q3 net up 60 pct to Rs 1,101 cr

The company had registered a consolidated net profit of Rs 686.93 cr in the same quarter last fiscal.

Non-ferrous metals and mining company Sterlite Industries reported a whopping 60.27 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit at Rs 1,101 crore for the third quarter of the current fiscal on higher sales.

The company,a subsidiary of Anil Agarwal-led Vedanta Resources,had registered a consolidated net profit of Rs 686.93 crore in the same quarter last fiscal,it said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Sterlite’s net sales increased to Rs 8,294.32 crore during the quarter compared to Rs 6,669.28 crore during the October-December quarter of the last fiscal.

Sterlite is in the business of zinc and lead through Hindustan Zinc; copper through Sterlite Industries India and Copper Mines of Tasmania Pty.

It also owns Bharat Aluminium Company,which is into the making of aluminium and alumina. Another operating company,Sterlite Energy,is into commercial power generation business.
