This was the second such death of a Hindu in 24 hours, reported several news agencies. Police was quoted as saying by news agencies that Sarat (Mani) Chakraborty, who ran a grocery shop, was attacked with sharp weapons in Narsingdi district late on Monday. He succumbed to his injuries later. So far six Hindus have fallen victims to violence in Bangladesh in three weeks.
Authorities said an investigation is underway. “We are investigating who was involved,” a police officer said, as reported by the local Bangladesh News Channel Blitz.
Sarat Chakraborty Mani was a 40-year-old Hindu man from Bangladesh’s minority community. He was a grocery shop owner at Charsindur Bazaar in Palash Upazila of Narsingdi, on the outskirts of Dhaka. Mani was attacked with sharp weapons by unidentified assailants while running his shop and died on the way to the hospital.
Look at the innocent, smiling face of this little princess. 💔

Once she wakes up today, she will be waiting at the door, hoping her father will return home… but he never will.
While we were all asleep last night, her father—Moni Chakraborty—was brutally killed. A simple Hindu… pic.twitter.com/txE1HO4zIO
Hours earlier, another Hindu man Rana Pratap, a 45-year-old factory owner and a newspaper’s acting editor was shot dead in Jessore (Jashore) district.

Witnesses said men called him out of his ice factory, led him into an alley and shot him. Police said he was shot in the head. Seven bullet casings were found near his body.
A local resident said the attackers arrived on a motorcycle and left immediately after the shooting.
Recent weeks have seen multiple violent incidents targeting members of the Hindu community in Bangladesh.
In separate cases across several districts, Hindus have been killed or assaulted in attacks linked to workplace disputes, local conflicts, or mob incidents.
India has earlier said it is concerned about violence against minorities in Bangladesh, stating that reports of deaths, assaults and land-related disputes should not be dismissed.
