Srinagar gets night postal service

As peace slowly returns to the valley,the first night postal service has been started in Kashmir. The service was inaugurated on Saturday by union Minister of New and Renewable energy,Farooq Abdullah

As peace slowly returns to the valley,the first night postal service has been started in Kashmir. The service was inaugurated on Saturday by union Minister of New and Renewable energy,Farooq Abdullah.

The night postal service is part of the transformation of Srinagars General Post office. The post office has been playing a key role in the development of Jammu and Kashmir and has strengthened its bonds with the common masses by adopting the latest technology in its operation, Abdullah said at the inaugural function.

Abdullah said the post office has proven its utility in the area of competition and the night postal service will go a long way to benefit the people of Kashmir. He also advised that the post office should use solar panels to meet energy requirements.

Chief Post Master General Jamp;K,John Samuel said the working hours of the post office have been extended till 8 pm on week days. To provide better services,the post office will also function on holidays and Sundays from 10 am to 6 pm, he said.
