The CBSE is set to launch courses in film studies,film appreciation and filmmaking at the Plus-Two level along with those on food production and foods & beverages and animation. The new bouquet of courses is being worked out in a bid to expand the academic breadth available to students and to develop industry specific manpower.
CBSE will soon be tying up with filmmaker Subhash Ghais Whistling Woods International in Mumbai to help develop curriculum for the film related courses,sources said. Whistling Woods will help us develop curriculum and training teachers to equip teachers to impart courses on film making etc. The courses will be available as electives as well as independent vocational streams at the Plus-Two level, a source said. Whistling Woods,in association with the Karnataka-based Manipal University,also offers Indias first MBA in Media & Entertainment.
The CBSE is also in talks to launch school-level courses on animation and design. Courses on food production and beverages are also set to debut in classrooms with the CBSE ready to tie up with the Tourism Ministry and the National Council of Human Management and Tourism. The HRD Ministry is also working with the CBSE to launch a slew of other courses like insurance,accountancy and retailing.
