Producer Arbaaz Khan and wife Malaika Arora Khan held a special screening of their recently-released hit film Dabangg on a request by Gauri Khan. In fact the film was screened twice at Mannat,Shah Rukh Khans home in Mumbai for the superstar.

Getting measured

Hrithik Roshan,the latest entry from Hindi films to Madame Tussauds Musuem,left for London with his wife Suzanne Khan and stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania to give his measurements to the gallery people,who will start work on his statue immediately. He now joins Amitabh Bachchan,Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan,who have already made their place at the waxworks museum.

Pleas dismissed

The Delhi High Court recently dismissed a plea challenging the title of upcoming Aamir Khans film Dhobi Ghat on the ground that it offended the sensitivity of a particular caste. A Bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra dismissed a public interest litigation seeking it to frame guidelines to prevent use of name of castes in the title of films. The petition,filed by Hindustan Kanojia Organisation of Dhobis Chairman Vinod Kumar Kanojia,contended that the films storyline does not revolve around a dhobi ghat. However,rejecting the petitioners contention,the court said that Dhobi Ghat is a geographical description of a place and is not offensive.

Promos leaked online

VISHESH Films and the Bhatts were shocked to find promos of the Emraan Hashmi-starrer Crook-Its Good To Be Bad leaked on YouTube much ahead of their own plans by an anonymous source. The producers have now decided to shoot different promos.

Good deed

Anupam Kher was recently in Chicago as the chief guest at a fundraiser gala organised by NGO Pratham,to raise money for the education of under-privileged children in India. The fundraiser at India House Banquet Hall in Schaumburg was hosted by co-founder and CEO of Pratham,Madhav Chavan,and Kher was the keynote speaker. Plans are that this year the Chicago chapter will raise around USD 100,000 while Pratham USA will raise about USD 3 million through fundraising events and foundation grants.

PC watches Peepli Live

Indias Planning Commission recently organised a special screening of Peepli Live,a satire on farmers suicides and inefficiency of development programmes,for its senior bureaucrats and planners. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saw the film last month.
