Advocate Ram Jethmalani on Wednesday hoped the Centre would not change its mind and restart prosecution against RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav in a corruption case. In a day-long hearing before a Special Bench headed by CJI K G Balakrishnan,Jethmalani, appearing for Lalu, submitted,Now since Lalu Prasad has fallen from power,I hope the Centre does not change its mind.

The Supreme Court, which reserved its judgment, was hearing a petition by Lalu against the Bihar governments initiative to appeal in the Patna High Court against the acquittal of Lalu and wife Rabri Devi in the disproportionate assets case despite the CBIs reluctance.

While CBIs counsel A Mariarputham said it fully endorsed Lalus contention that Bihar had no authority to file an appeal in a case investigated by it,L Nageshwar Rao,appearing for Bihar, urged the court to take into consideration the concerns of the state as its exchequer had suffered the loss.
