Delhi Police recover woman’s lifelong savings worth Rs 32 lakh, 3 arrested for burglary at Ambedkar Nagar

The Delhi Police recovered approximately 228.83 grams of gold, 708 grams of silver, Rs 1.15 lakh in cash, and a stolen scooter.

The Delhi Police arrested three burglars from South Delhi’s Ambedkar Nagar Saturday, solving a major burglary at the residence of a senior citizen woman.

The police identified the accused as Ishaq Kalua, 24; Pawan, 26; and Bharat, 23. Pawan and Bharat are active habitual offenders of the area, the police said.

The case was registered on January 1, after the complainant reported returning home in the morning to find the main gate handle broken and household articles ransacked. Her gold and silver jewellery and cash, described by the police as her lifelong savings, were found stolen.

During the investigation, the police analysed CCTV footage from nearby locations and identified three masked suspects who allegedly entered the house around 3 am. Using technical surveillance and local intelligence, the accused were identified and later arrested from Nala Road in Pushp Vihar area of Saket, while riding a stolen scooter and carrying the stolen property.

The police said they recovered the entire stolen jewellery, about 228.83 grams of gold and 708 grams of silver, along with cash amounting to Rs 1.15 lakh and the stolen scooter. The total value of the recovered property is estimated at around Rs 32 lakh, said the police.

The accused are also suspected to be involved in another theft case registered at the Malviya Nagar police station, the police added. Further investigation is underway.
