The Supreme Court Thursday issued notices to Delhi,Punjab and the Union Territory of Chandigarh on a challenge to a ban on screening Sadda Haq,a film on the militancy era in Punjab.

There has been no ban on the screening of the film in other states. Why ban has been imposed only in Delhi,Punjab and Chandigarh, the court asked during the hearing.

Delhis counsel S W A Qadri sought to justify the ban as a move to ensure communal harmony. The court, however, told him and other counsel to file affidavits by April 16.

The screening of the film was banned on April 4,a day before its release.
