India needs a progressive and stable tax regime along with liberalised tax policies so that they dont become a deterrent for foreign investors,Harish Salve,senior advocate,Supreme Court,today said at a function of OP Jindal Global University. Pointing out that Indian taxation has been disproportionately high,Salve,who represented Vodafone in its Rs 11,200-crore tax dispute with the Indian tax authorities,said that as the exposure to the problems of transfer pricing and structuring increases,there is a strong need for stability in our tax regime. Salve said,We need to develop understanding of how taxation as a concept has changed dramatically.
