Robbery victim moves rights panel against Orissa cops

Sahoo went to the Sahid Nagar police station to lodge a complaint,but the police allegedly detained and tortured him in the lock-up,saying he was involved in the robbery.

I was badly thrashed. Even after I passed out,I was fed glucose and again beaten up by the inspector-in-charge IIC,to make me confess that I was hand-in-glove with the robbers8230; They kept on beating me till I started vomiting, said Sahoo,who moved the OHRC on February 3 against the police.

As local newspapers reported the incident,an enraged IIC of the Sahid Nagar police station reportedly threatened Sahoo to withdraw his complaint with the OHRC or face dire consequences.
