China,Pak begin anti-terror exercises

Chinese and Pakistani troops on Thursday began a two-week long anti-terrorism exercises in Chinas Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region,ahead of a key visit by President Asif Ali Zardari next week. The week-long drill,code-named Friendship-2010,would be the third of its kind between the two close allies. Each side has sent special troops to take part in the province which has a large concentration of Muslim population.

21 suspected Taliban held in northwest

Twenty-one suspects,including nine proclaimed offenders,were arrested during a search operation

in northwest Pakistan on Thursday,police said. District Police Officer Kohat Dilawar Khan who led the search,recovered a large cache of arms,narcotics and alcohol in Kohat region of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa.
