On Tagores 150th birthday,special grant for programmes on Nobel laureate

As part of celebrations to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore,the government has decided to provide financial assistance to people and organisations interested in holding programmes on Tagore and his multifaceted genius.

As part of celebrations to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore,the government has decided to provide financial assistance to people and organisations interested in holding programmes on Tagore and his multifaceted genius.

The grant scheme has been launched by the Union Culture Ministry on the advice of a national committee constituted under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to celebrate the 150th year of Rabindranath Tagores birth.

The grant,which will take care of 75 per cent of the expenditure incurred on relevant programmes up to a maximum ceiling of Rs 5 lakh,is meant for not-for-profit organisations working for the promotion of art and culture and also universities.

Programmes that may be financed include lectures,seminars,workshops,symposia,cultural shows,literary festivals,exhibitions,small documentary films,audio-video presentations etc,a government statement said.
