Now IUML MLA named in case of twin murders

Even as the CPM finds itself in the thick of allegations related to political murders,a legislator of the ruling Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has landed in a twin-murder case facing conspiracy and abetment charges. IUML is the second leading partner in the Congress-led United Democratic Front in Kerala.

IUML legislator P K Basheer,representing Ernadu constituency in Malappuram,was named as the sixth accused in the case related to the murder of two brothers who had been earlier arrested in the murder of an IUML activist.

The Malappuram police said a case has been registered against Basheer under Sections 108 (abetting murder) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC based on the complaint of the family of the brothers,Kolakkadadan Azad and brother Aboobacker,who were hacked to death by a gang on Sunday night.
