Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday launched a veiled attack on BJPs Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi saying the countrys unity could be maintained only by respecting linguistic and religious diversity of the country.

Speaking at his weekly Janata Darbar,Kumar also held the BJP solely responsible for wasting away the opportunity of a new political situation by nominating Modi as its PM nominee. Our decision (to snap ties with the BJP) was vindicated. The BJP alone is responsible for wasting away an opportunity of a new political situation and has now gone into an isolation.

He,however, said that his party, the JD(U),was not bothered about the decisions taken by others and added every party was free to chart its political line. We have decided to stick to our ideology… People of Bihar had moved ahead on the path of development and would stick to this in future, he added.

On the issue of forming a pre-poll alliance for the next Lok Sabha elections,Kumar took a different view vis-a-vis party national president Sharad Yadav who on Sunday had said that his party would not form alliance with any party before the 2014 polls. The Bihar CM,on the other hand, today said the party would take a decision on the issue only after the conclusion of its current set of political activities by October.

He,however, tried to play down the contradictions in his and Yadavs statement. Sharadji has said what I have said. Right now,our political activities will continue till October. If any need arises for political discussion,we will sit together and discuss, he added.

His jibe: Iron Man (Advani) left to rust

BIHAR Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday took a jibe on the bickering within the BJP over Narendra Modis nomination as Prime Ministerial candidate saying party patriarch Iron man L K Advani has been left to rust. While their own Iron Man (read L K Advani) has been left to rust, they are planning to collect iron from across the country to build a statue of liberty of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
