Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar warmly received A P J Abdul Kalam at the airport, whose name is doing the round for next Presidents race,as the latter arrived here on Thursday evening to attend a function at a private college.
Though the former president ducked media queries on his possible candidature for the top job,Nitishs body language dropped enough hints about the partys first choice for next President. The CM,however, did not say anything on the issue.
JD-U national spokesperson Shivanand Tiwari told The Indian Express: We are waiting for the official announcement of President candidate. It will not be fair to lobby for any individual at a time when political parties have been dropping several names including that of the serving PM and former president.
When reminded about his previous statement of who better than Kalam, the JD-U national spokesperson said: It was NDA that had rooted for Kalam when he eventually had got the top job. Just wait for the right time.
Kalam will attend a private college function here on Friday and also take part in another function near the state capital.
