Japan's Nikkei average rose 0.5 per cent on Wednesday as investors bought on dips amid hopes that Tokyo stocks will stay bullish entering 2011,though a firmer yen limited strong follow-through buying. The benchmark Nikkei finished the day up 51.91 points at 10,344.54. The broader Topix index gained 0.6 per cent or 5.18 points to 908.01.
