NDDB chief meets PM,wants to quit

Amrita Patel has decided to step down as the chairman of the National Dairy Development Board.

Amrita Patel has decided to step down as the chairman of the National Dairy Development Board NDDB,a decision she conveyed to PM Manmohan Singh and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar after meeting them in New Delhi on Friday.

While the reason for this is unclear,Patel,who will complete her third five-year term as the chairman of NDDB in November 2013,has asked the government to initiate the selection of her successor.

Both the PM and Agriculture Minister requested her to reconsider her decision. But Patel indicated to them that while she greatly values their sentiments,she felt it was time to step down, a press release stated.
