Govt raises rice output estimate
NEW DELHI: Due to widespread late monsoon rains in UP,the country is set to produce more rice this year than estimated. The Agriculture Ministry on Wednesday revised its first Advanced Estimates of rice production for 2009-10 from 69.45 million tonnes to 71.65 million tonnes. Production estimates of cereals and foodgrains were also revised to 94.41 million tonnes and 98.83 million tonnes,respectively.
Trinamool protest in Capital today

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition seeking disqualification of Sonia Gandhi as MP for accepting a title conferred by the Belgium government in 2006. A Division Bench dismissed the petition filed by Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy seeking direction to the Election Commission to hold a probe against Sonia.
