Mumbai Police have launched a manhunt for two suspected Pakistani terrorists who are believed to have slipped into the city a few days ago and are likely to pose as taxi drivers to carry out an attack. The search was launched based on a fresh intelligence report from central agencies,sources told The Indian Express,adding that the two men had been identified as Mirza Hussain and Abdul Hadi.
An intelligence input about a possible attack being planned in the city was received a few days ago. The alert says that two terrorists have already infiltrated into the city. They are Pakistani youth who slipped into the country through Kashmir,then travelled by land to enter the city. Their names are also clearly mentioned, a senior officer said. While their specific design is not known,they are likely to pose as taxi drivers in the city to carry out their operation. No specific targets or the nature of the attack are specified.
Following the alert,all special units of Mumbai Police such as the Anti-Terrorism Squad,the Special Branch and the Crime Branch have been asked to work on the information and thwart any terror bid.
A message has been circulated to all 89 local police stations in the city,and random checking of hotels and lodges has been on for the past few days.
