The advent of monsoon might be advanced, with rain hitting the islands of Andaman and Nicobar in the next 48 hours.

The advent of monsoon might be advanced, with rain hitting the islands of Andaman and Nicobar in the next 48 hours. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD),the cyclone ‘Mahasen’,that has formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal, would be hitting the islands, and that would result in the advancement of monsoon in the Andaman Seas within the next few days. Mahasen, after crossing the Andaman Seas, would move towards Bangladesh and Myanmar coasts.

S Pai,senior scientist of IMD,said once the cyclone hits the land, monsoon conditions would set over the islands. “In case the conditions over the island remain firm,we can safely say the monsoon has arrived over the Indian sub-continent,” he said.
