GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday said the chief minister would be brought within the ambit of the Lokayukta Bill in Assam and appealed to Anna Hazare to end his fast. We are waiting for the Lokpal Bill to be passed in Parliament. We will take the guidelines from the Lokpal Bill,its main essence and provisions in our amendment, Gogoi said. We will also have provisions for the High Court to take up suo moto cases on corruption. We will also go for a peoples charter with guarantee of service,means to check bribe and create a grievance cell.

Back home after fast,man dies

BHUBANESWAR: A 35-year-old man,who had been on a fast in solidarity with Anna Hazare,died of a stroke at his home in Boudh district,according to reports reaching here Friday. Arun Das,a member of Patanjali Yoga Samiti,was on a fast at Janhapanka in Boudh since August 21,demanding the Jan Lokpal Bill. On August 24,he broke his fast and returned home. Hours later,he fell unconscious and was rushed to a local hospital. He died the next morning

Woman kills self in Maharashtra

MIRAJ: A 30-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide in Miraj town of Sangli district in Maharashtra,citing Anna Hazares hungerstrike and inflation in her suicide note,police said. Shubhangi Vinayak Karande,a married woman,committed suicide by hanging herself from ceiling at her house Friday evening. Her suicide note said: Hazare is on fast against corruption,but the government is not paying heed and not doing anything,police said.

Jkhand House urges Anna to break fast

RANCHI: Jharkhand Assembly on Friday passed a resolution appealing Anna Hazare to end his hunger strike. The resolution was piloted by senior BJP MLA Raghuvar Das. 8220;This House should pass a resolution urging Anna Hazare to break his fast and that a strong Lokpal Bill be enacted,8221; Das said. Chief Minister Arjun Munda as well as Leader of Opposition Rajendra Prasad Singh of the Congress agreed to the suggestion.

MP village erects temple to Anna

BHOPAL: As Anna Hazares campaign gathers pace,people in Chanderi village in Madhya Pradeshs Sehore district have erected a make-shift temple to him. To begin with,we have installed a photograph of Hazare on a chabutra platform under a tree in the village on the occasion of Janmashtmi, M S Mewada,who along with half a dozen fellow villagers,was instrumental in establishing the temple,said. Like other temples,we are performing his puja twice daily besides singing bhajans penned in his honour.

Thackeray scion meets Hazare

NEW DELHI: Aditya Thackeray,the grandson of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray,Friday met Anna Hazare and conveyed support of the whole Shiv Sena family. Aditya,the president of the partys youth wing,Yuva Sena,zipped through the VIP gate of the Ramlila Maidan in a black Mercedes car and went straight to Hazares room. I have come here on the directions of Balasaheb. All of us are against corruption. I made Balasaheb speak to Hazareji on my phone, he said. Balasaheb asked him to take care of his health as it is the 11th day of his fast today. He looked fine though.
