BSP president and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Wednesday dismissed Water Resources and Land Development Minister Ashok Kumar Dohre and suspended him from the party for his conduct that was unbecoming of the dignity of a minister. An official release said that the CM recommended Dohres removal to Governor B L Joshi, following complaints that Dohre had been violating her directive that BSP leaders should present an ideal example in public life, and not interfere in government work. However,it did not spell out what exactly Dohre had done.
Dohre,a first-time MLA from Ajeetmal constituency in Auraiya district, could not be reached for comment.
The dismissed minister is an old BSP hand. He was associated with the All India Backward And Minority Communities Employees Federation, said a party leader.
Sources link his removal to the BSPs decision to deny him party ticket for the 2012 Assembly polls, following friction between him and Kanpur region coordinator K K Gautam. Since Ajeetmal constituency has been abolished due to delimitation,Dohre wanted to contest from Auraiya, but Mayawati decided to field Alok Verma and told Dohre he would be fielded for 2014 LS elections from Etawah. The denial of ticket fuelled friction between Dohre and Gautam, making it hard for the party to maintain discipline in Auraiya.
Dohre is the second minister to be dismissed, after Minister of State for Homoeopath Rajesh Tripathi. The portfolio of water resources and land development has been given to PWD Minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui.
