A 32-year-old woman was allegedly raped and poisoned by her brother Saturday in Rohtak district of Haryana over a property dispute. The woman has been admitted to hospital and is critical.

The brother is currently absconding and has been booked under Sections 376,506,328 of the IPC.

According to the police,the victim was staying with her husband in Italy for the past few years. She returned to India on March 18.

For the last few months,her brother,his wife and father were staying in a house in Rohtak. Initial probe revealed that the woman had a property dispute with her brother. He wanted a share in the house but she wanted to sell it and arrange money to get Italian citizenship.

We have got the victims statement. She has alleged that her brother gave her a cold drink laced with a drug and forcibly put some poisonous substance in her mouth. She said he also threatened her with dire consequences. Though her medical examination has not confirmed rape,doctors say such a possibility cannot be ruled out, said Rohtak DSP Virender Singh.
