Maldives: India seeks constructive dialogue

As Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met former Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed,New Delhi expressed hope the engagement with all stakeholders in that country will facilitate a constructive dialogue among all political parties

As Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met former Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed on Monday,New Delhi expressed hope the engagement with all stakeholders in that country will facilitate a constructive dialogue among all political parties.

Nasheed has been demanding early polls.

India hopes that engagement with all the stakeholders in Maldives will facilitate a constructive dialogue among all the political parties and help in bringing stability to the country in line with the roadmap of February 16,2012,drawn up by the President of Maldives, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

Nasheed was conveyed New Delhis position during his meetings with National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon and Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai on Monday.
