London: Police evacuated part of a British airport today and declared a “chemical incident” after a man tried to carry some non-identified white powder onto a plane.

A check-in area in Manchester Airport was cleared after the substance was discovered in a bag carried by an Asian man planning to fly to London Heathrow.

However,police Superintendent Leor Giladi said there was “no imminent danger”,and a source said it was unlikely the incident was terror-related.

“The check-in desk at Terminal 3 has been cordoned off and a man in his 20s is helping police with their inquiries at the airport.” AFP

‘Zardari enjoys immunity from prosecution’

Islamabad/Lahore: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has said President Asif Ali Zardari enjoys immunity from prosecution under the Constitution despite a Supreme Court order scrapping a graft amnesty that benefited the President and thousands of Pakistanis. Gilani told reporters in Lahore that the government respects the apex court’s decisions and directions and would implement them. However,he pointed out that the President enjoys immunity from prosecution under Article 248 of the Constitution.

Twitter cuts feature over security flaw

Boston: Twitter has temporarily disabled one of the features on its website after a security researcher warned of a programming flaw that left the login credentials of its users vulnerable to hackers. Twitter co-founder Biz Stone said in an e-mail that the company had temporarily cut off access to a feature that lets users display Twitter updates on their websites by using Flash technology. “Our team has disabled the Flash widget while we look into the problem,” Stone said.

Washington: The US Secret Service was warned about gatecrasher couple Michaele and Tareq Salahi attempt “to get close to the Obamas” long before they shocked the world by illegally attending the White House state dinner for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,a media report has said.
