Prabhakaran hideout found
Colombo: Sri Lankan security forces have busted a hideout used by slain LTTE supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran during the last phase of the 30-year-old civil war and recovered weapons and files containing classified information from it. The forces recovered 17 suicide jackets,8 claymore mines,300 kg of C-4 explosives and 7,000 jonny mines from the hideout. Police ascertained information about the hideout by questioning six of Prabhakarans closest aides now in custody, the Island Newspaper reported.
Hamas backtracks on missile apology
Gaza City: The Hamas government in Gaza has distanced itself from an earlier statement in which it expressed regret for harming Israeli civilians in rocket attacks. The apology was part of the governments response to a UN report that alleged both Hamas and Israel committed war crimes during Israels Gaza offensive last winter. The UN report accused Hamas of firing rockets indiscriminately at Israeli civilians.
Temple attacked in Bangladesh
Dhaka: Miscreants in Bangladeshs Narayanganj district vandalised an ancient Hindu temple,with assailants destroying six idols,a top official said today. A gang of 30-35 men attacked the Sonargaon temple and broke six idols,said Mohd Yunus Ali,the local police chief. He said the incident took place while the devotees were holding a religious function at the Sree Sree Rakshakali Temple at Ashrafdi village.
