12-year-old chained, locked by parents rescued

The Nagpur District Child Protection Cell on Friday rescued a 12-year-old boy who was allegedly chained and locked up by his parents over his “misbehaviour”.
When the child protection cell team visited the spot, the child was found in a frightened state. An officer said his hands and legs had severe bruises. He was thereafter shifted to a safe location. A complaint has been registered against the parents at Ajni police station.

The child has undergone medical examination and admitted to a children’s home. He will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee for further proceedings. The police are conducting further investigation under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 and other relevant sections. Along with medical treatment, counselling of the child has also been initiated.
