Changing City: Metro 9 — First Metro line in Mira Bhayandar

The line was commissioned in Oct 2024. It is an extension of Line 7, hence trains coming from Mira Bhayandar will continue towards Andheri East without the need for an interchange.

The line will connect Mira Bhayandar to Metro line 7 and 2A, which travel towards Andheri and beyond. As it runs along Western Express Highway and goes over Dahisar checknaka, commuters, who have patiently waited for a Metro line in their reach, are sure to welcome the line, reducing traffic on the arterial road below. The first four stations of Metro 9 will connect Dahisar East to Kashigaon.

The project

* The line was commissioned in Oct 2024. It is an extension of Line 7, hence trains coming from Mira Bhayandar will continue towards Andheri East without the need for an interchange. In future, Line 7 is being extended and will offer direct connectivity to the CSIA. This portion will be Line 7A, and around 62% work was complete by September 2025.

* Phase 1 stretch of the line will cover four stations till Kashigaon. The next phase will take it to Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium, Bhayandar.

* Due to the Model Code of Conduct, the line will likely be inaugurated after January 15.

Stations to open by Jan (4.5km):

* Pandhurang Wadi

* Miragaon

* Kashigaon

Stations to open in next six months:

* Sai Baba Nagar

* Meditiya Nagar

* Shahid Bhagat Singh Garden

* Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium

Remaining stations (Line 7A):

* Airport Colony (elevated)

* CSIA (underground)

Interchanges at Dahisar E station with: Metro Line 7 (to Gundavali) and Metro Line 2A (to DN Nagar, Andheri West)

In future, line will also be connected to proposed Metro line 10, connecting it to Thane, and line 4 (Wadala-Kasarvadavali-Gaimukh). Work on this connector line has not yet begun.
