SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday said there would be no mid-term change of guard in Jamp;K and that he will stay the Chief Minister for the full term. He also played down reports that there was any discord between his party National Conference and the Congress. He said the agreement between both parties was very clear that there would be no mid-term change of guard. Distribution of portfolios was also done on this single premise that there will be no change of guard at the half way point.

Woman found killed in Mumbai train

THANE: An unidentified woman,in her twenties,was found murdered in the second-class compartment of a suburban train here,police said on Saturday. On Friday night,the Railway Protection Force patrol staff found the womans body in the rake, parked at the Kalwa car shed. The body,with deep stab wounds,was found in the compartment shortly before midnight,they said,adding it was not yet known when she was killed.

Pak court adjourns 26/11 trial for week

ISLAMABAD: The trial of LeTs Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi and six other Pakistani suspects charged with involvement in the Mumbai attacks was on Saturday adjourned till June 25 as no judge was available to conduct proceedings. Rana Nisar Ahmed,who had been hearing the case since November 2010,was transferred shortly after the last hearing on June 11. No new judge has been appointed.

Telgi gets 10-year RI in Nashik case

PUNE: A special court has sentenced the fake stamp paper scam accused Abdul Karim Telgi to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 9 lakh in a case registered with Nashik police in 2000. Telgi,who is facing 47 cases in connection with the scam,pleaded guilty in the Nashik case through video-conferencing on Friday from Banglore.

Lioness rescued from Vadodara well

VADODARA: An old lioness was rescued from a well in Mandlikapur village,Junagadh district forest officials said. Jungadh district forest officer Anita Karan said the lioness was tranquilised and pulled out of the well with a rope and sent to Sakkarbaug Zoo at Junagadh for treatment.

Man kills sarpanch wife,surrenders

KENDRAPARA ORISSA: A man hacked to death his wife,a sarpanch,and surrendered before the police in Kendrapara district,police said on Saturday. The 35-year-old victim,Manorama Mallick,was the sitting sarpanch of Balana-Dashipur Gram Panchayat.
