US shooting: 2nd Sikh victim dies

WASHINGTON: Gurmej Atwal,one of the two Sikhs shot by assailants in California on March 4,has succumbed to his injuries. Police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime. Atwal,78,and his friend Surinder Singh,65,while they were on a morning walk. Singh died on the spot.

Armyman kills self in Udhampur

JAMMU: A court of inquiry has been ordered after an Army jawan committed suicide by hanging in an Officers Mess in Udhampur district of Jamp;K,official sources said. Parshotam Kumar joined duty two days ago after a month long leave,said officials,adding his body was found Friday night.

2 varsity staff held in marksheet case

VARANASI: Two staff members of the examination section of the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University have been arrested in a fake marksheet case. Vijay Nath Shukla and Mihir Mishra were arrested after they were suspended by the university Friday night,police said. An FIR has been registered against the accused,they added.

Three girls run over by train in Bihar

UP teenage rape victim dies

BEED: The 17-year-old girl,who set herself afire after being allegedly raped by her fathers former employer,died in a hospital on Saturday after battling for life for over a week. The girl,admitted to Civil Hospital on April 10,breathed her last this morning. Her father used to work at a farm of accused Babulal Rasal. He had borrowed some money from Rasal. The police have arrested Rasal and an accomplice.
