The Maharashtra government on Monday submitted in the SC a second status report on the investigation into allegations of disproportionate assets held by former Mumbai Congress chief Kripashankar Singh and his family. The report was filed in a sealed cover by a special investigating team, headed by Mumbai Police Commissioner Arup Patnaik.
The first report was filed on April 16 in compliance with a March 13 order of the SC which had asked Patnaik to conduct a probe and collect documentary evidence regarding all movable and immovable properties of Kripashankar and his family while seeking a report in a sealed envelope.
A bench comprising Justices H L Dattu and A R Dave had earlier refused to stay the investigation against Singh and his family, but put an interim stay on the process of attaching and seizure of their properties.
