The multi-million rupee investment scam, allegedly involving former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, took another twist on Wednesday when the Jharkhand High Court ordered a CBI probe into it.

A Division Bench comprising acting Chief Justice Shishil Harkauli and Justice D N Patel directed the CBI to inquire into allegations of misuse of power by Koda as chief minister and his associates, including Binod Sinha,Sanjay Choudhary and Vikas Sinha.

In the circumstances of the case,we direct that the complaint of the petitioner be forwarded to the CBI for inquiry, the Bench said.

A petition seeking a CBI probe was filed by social activist Durga Oraon on March 2,2008. The petition furnished details published in local Hindi dailies showing how Koda in league with his associates amassed property disproportionate to their known sources of income and used hawala channels to invest crores of rupees in many countries abroad, including Indonesia and Thailand.

Koda, who was arrested by the state Vigilance on November 30,2009,has taken permission from the court to attend the monsoon session of Parliament.

The case has been posted for further hearing on August 16.
