Jats threaten blockade from March 28

It had also directed the Centre and the state government to take necessary steps in this regard.

The Akhil Bharatiya Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti has threatened to block all road and rail routes leading to the national capital on March 28 if the Centre did not set a deadline to accept their demand to include the community among the OBCs. The Samiti, which lifted its blockade of the railway track in Amroha on Saturday after an Allahabad High Court order, has also decided to launch an agitation in Delhi from Tuesday.

Yashpal Malik, the Samiti president, said,We held a meeting at the place of our agitation in Amroha on Monday and decided to intensify the agitation by sealing the borders of Delhi by blocking the railways and road routes in Uttar Pradesh,Rajasthan,Haryana and Punjab from March 28. Malik said the Union government had left us with no option. Even senior government ministers were unable to offer a time-bound solution of the communitys demand regarding the reservation in Central government jobs,he said.

He said the community was holding agitations in UP,Rajasthan,Haryana and Punjab since March 5. He,along with other community leaders, had held meetings with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Mukul Wasnik twice, but the ministers expressed helplessness in giving a specific time limit for including the community among the OBCs,Malik added.

He said that though they had cleared the railway tracks at Kafoorpur following directives of the Allahabad High Court after 15 days, but their legal cell was on the job to place their grievances before the court. On Friday, the Allahabad High Court, taking suo motu cognisance of the media report of the hardships to the public, had asked the agitators to clear the rail track. It had also directed the Centre and the state government to take necessary steps in this regard.
