IPG: Informed Ajit before strike

They also claimed that they had informed the minister and apprised him about the volatile situation.

As the stalemate continues,Air Indias striking pilots, who met the civil aviation minister Ajit Singh on Friday, sought to clarify that they had explored all other options before resorting to a strike. They also claimed that they had informed the minister and apprised him about the volatile situation.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the de-recognised pilots union Indian Pilots Guild IPG said,A letter was sent to the Honble Minister on May 2,2012,five days before the agitation, explaining the entire situation.

In his first meeting with the IPG,Singh is believed to have come down heavily on the IPG members for proceeding on a strike without informing or approaching him.

IPG had on Friday said that the meeting had remained unproductive and mutually agreeable solution was reached to end the strike which has been declared illegal by the court.

The 18-day old strike has crippled the international operations of pre-merger Air India, and a contingency plan has been put in place till June 30.

The IPG has to respond to a contempt notice slapped on it and 61 other pilots by July 13.
