I-Day: Intel inputs warn of attack in Valley

Ahead of the Independence Day,the intelligence agencies have sent out inputs about entry of militants in Jammu and Kashmir and possible attempt to hijack an aircraft by Lashkar militants.

According to an input,around 250-300 militants owing allegiance to various terror outfits have entered Kashmir and are planning an attack. The alert also mentioned that another group of around 300 militants was waiting at the border.

They seem to be regular intelligence inputs ahead of every Independence Day celebrations but we cannot afford to take any chance and will pass them on to all the states and security agencies concerned for necessary action, said a senior officer involved with internal security.

Another alert also asked the CRPF to be on high alert as Hurriyat leader Shabir Ahmed Shah had called his supporters to observe August 15 as black day and not to make any kind of celebration.

Last week,the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security had issued an alert at all major airports warning of hijack attempt by LeT militants.

One of the specific alerts for the Ahmedabad international airport said a Lashkar militant identified as Abdul Nur who underwent flying training in Vishakhapatnam might try to hijack an aircraft and take it to Pakistan.

Security was also stepped up in Assam following reports of possible strikes by ULFAs anti-talk faction. According to officials,several groups of the faction have sneaked into different parts of the state.
