Guinness World Record Ab India Todega

Watching India make records, like the ones on this show dont make us misty-eyed or swell with patriotic pride, not even when Chris cheers Jai Ho or Preity jumps around in joy.

A man from Assam covers a distance of about 250 ft from one end of a mountain to another on the strength of his choti plait tied to a hook. He doesnt reveal the secret of his hair oil but makes a record for India. Then there is a teenage girl,a karate kid,who blows off some 25 candles with one lash of her choti most number of candles blown by the whip of a pigtail is the record and breaks the record of a Chinese karate woman. She is followed by Mr Freaky who eats a nice bowl of crushed glass he can eat china plates, bowls, iron rods, cars ?? and anything that doesnt qualify as food. Voila,he makes a new record. Yes,we are talking about Preity Zintas debut show,Guinness World Record,Ab India Todega.

At the time of writing,India had broken seven records and made a couple of new ones. Great! But whats Preity doing in the show? Shes hosting it with Khatron Ke Khiladi Shabbir Ahluwalia who hosts the outdoor bits.

The bubbly artiste comes to the studio, reads her lines off a teleprompter and thats when she looks the most uncomfortable, her accented Hindi making it look laborious than it actually is,calls on contestants, makes small talk with them thats the fun part of the show when the dimpled actress is at her spontaneous and unrehearsed best, then chats with the firang official from the Guinness headquarters,a boring bloke, who Preity calls Mr Chris. He rattles off the rules in English and Preity religiously translates them for the audience something they could have just done away with by dubbing his lines… its very irritating to see the actress translate each and every word.

Though the show is all about breaking records and making new ones, some of them like the man eating crushed glass and other weird ones that will come up in forthcoming episodes is something we have seen before on shows like Shabaash India. The only difference is that in the latters they were not breaking any records, just showing off their strange, unusual talent. We also wish that the show was more zippy and engaging. One can watch it at the most for just ten minutes, especially when there are better alternatives on other channels. Watching India make records, like the ones on this show dont make us misty-eyed or swell with patriotic pride, not even when Chris cheers Jai Ho or Preity jumps around in joy. Not impressed. Period!

Verdict:

We would rather watch Sachin Tendulkar making records!
