Character dheela and Dhinka chika, the foot-tapping numbers from Ready, were re-shot,costing producers T-Series an additional two crore.
The Character dheela track in Anees Bazmees Ready was initially a club song picturised on an ultra-glamorous Zarine Khan and Salman Khan. It was shot in a high-end club in Bangkok while the peppy Dhinka chika was picturised on the beefy actor and Asin on the busy streets of Bangkok. However, both the songs were later re-shot. Character dheela was shot on a set created at Mumbais Filmistan Studios while Dhinka chika was shot on an outdoor set in a street put up at Film City studio.
We realised that the songs had foot-tapping music and catchy lyrics but the backdrop was boring. The club song was like any other number and the street song had no proper concept, said Bhushan Kumar, producer of the film.
The makers soon realised that both these tracks were potential chartbusters and made drastic changes to enhance the look of these songs. It was the directors,Salmans and choreographer Mudassar Khans idea to pay a tribute to the evergreen hits like Pyaar hua ikraar hua from Shree 420,Jab pyaar kiya toh darna kya from Mughal-e-Azam and Jab tak hain jaan from Sholay in the Character dheela song. The trio conceptualised it after several discussions. Zarines outfits were styled by designers Ashley Rebello and Alvira Agnihotri, keeping the look of the yesteryear actresses in mind. Zarine put in a lot of effort to tone her body. She watched the clippings of the original songs to get the right emotions like Nargis,Madhubala and Hema Malini and rehearsed for a week to fine tune her moves. Everything fell into place and we re-shot the songs. The response has been overwhelming, said Kumar who is planning to release Ready on June 3.
On the other hand, the revised Dhinka chika song now has a colourful and festive look. It is set in a traffic jam, amidst a huge crowd of people and children. There is a concept now which has made it extremely appealing. The money spent has been worth it, said the content producer.
