An art exhibition on Delhis historic monuments by Yajanika Arora is a story of survival and the grandiosity of ruins. Trained as a graphic designer,Aroras sketches are inspired by architecture and design,which comes forth in her perspectives on Agrasen ki Baoli,Jama Masjid,Purana Quila,and Humayuns Tomb,among others . But the insights didnt come easy. Arora had to battle meningitis and sixth nerve palsy and sketching was the only activity she was allowed that would be least stressful. She loved charcoal sketching since her childhood. Sketching became a meditation for Arora. These drawings are not just end products,they are a part of my thoughts, she says. This is her first solo exhibition. The monuments and ghats of Varanasi were my muse,I used to sit there for hours. At that time,we didnt have cameras or computers. It takes almost a month for me to complete one sketch, says Arora.
