Fire dept submits preliminary report

The fire department submitted its preliminary report to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the December 9 AMRI hospital incident

The fire department on Tuesday submitted its preliminary report to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the December 9 AMRI hospital incident,clearly mentioning that the fire had started at 2:30 am in the basement. The report claimed that the fire department got to know about it at 4:10 am and rushed its first personnel 20 minutes later after a lapse of full two hours.

The report has said that the fire might have been caused by a short circuit and the actual cause will be known after the forensic report is submitted.

It has also said that what led to the quick spread of the fire was the presence of huge quantity of inflammable material like cotton,chemicals,wires and medical waste at the basement of the hospital.

A total of 25 engines with 175 firemen were pressed into service,according to the report.
