The Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and Punjab Sovereignty Alliance (PSA) Friday claimed that they got the blast carried out near the Nalagarh police station in Solan on Thursday as synthetic drugs are allegedly being manufactured in the Himachal Pradesh “and pushed into Punjab”.

In social media posts and a statement, the BKI — a banned terror outfit — further claimed that planning and execution of the IED blast was carried out by Gopi Nawanshahria and Kabal Singh.

“The police administration is aware of it, yet no action is being taken..Our youth are dying after consuming the synthetic drugs. If the administration still does not wake up or no action is taken, then next time IEDs will be planted in the vehicles and headquarters of the police administration, and a response will be given that will be beyond their comprehension. Our fight is not against any innocent person, it is against this dirty system,” read the press statement.

Baddi SP Vinod Kumar Dhiman said, “We have come to know that BKI and PSA have claimed responsibility for the blast. A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) visited the blast site today. The forensic experts also inspected the spot. We are in constant touch with the Punjab Police in connection with this case,” he told The Indian Express.

Police had earlier secured the area around the blast site while security has been heightened in and around Nalagarh and adjoining regions.

The blast took place around 9.40 am Thursday, leaving a two feet deep crater and shattering the window panes of the nearby structures. According to the police, the impact of the explosion was felt within a radius of nearly 40 to 50 metres.
