Egypt army says ready to save nation

The armed forces have the obligation to intervene to stop Egypt from plunging into a dark tunnel of conflict and infighting, El-Sissi warned on the eve of the first anniversary of Morsis election as opposition leaders clamoured for his resignation.

Egyptians fear the demonstrations calling for President Mohammed Morsis ouster will descend into violence after some of the presidents hard-line supporters vowed to smash them.
