DoT opposes Loops plea in apex court

The Department of Telecom DoT has opposed Loop Telecoms challenge in the Supreme Court against its notices on spectrum user charges and other penalties,contending the issue was completely commercial and independent of the court order on cancelling the licences.

Loop had accused the DoT of hounding and harassing it with illogical penalty for wrapping up its services,honouring the SCs judgment cancelling 2G licences. The operator was faced with penalties amounting to Rs 1,100 crore for alleged violation of licence conditions.
