CRPF job scam: CBI arrests two more

The CBI on Friday arrested two more persons in Delhi in connection with the CRPF recruitment scam.

The CBI on Friday arrested two more persons in Delhi in connection with the CRPF recruitment scam. They were taken on transit remand and produced before a Patna court. The accused Pappu alias Pappu Kumar and Pargat Singh have been sent to six-day CBI remand. The number of arrests in the case has gone up to 11,including all nine named in the FIR.

CBI sources told The Indian Express that Pappu and Pargat Singh,both residents of Bihar,had gone to Delhi to 8220;deliver the bribe share to CRPF commandant Jadvendra Singh8221;,who is now under CBI custody. Pappu,according to sources,was the 8220;right hand8221; of alleged mastermind Mukesh,a resident of Kankerbagh at Patna. 8220;All main touts,including Mukesh,his wife Swati Bhardwaj,Tripurari Kumar alias Bablu and Siddhnath Sharma lived in the same area Kankerbagh of the city in a bid to centralise dealing and to stay in close contact with one another8221;,said a CBI source.

The case investigation officer,CBI Delhi,inspector VPS Maan and his team has been interrogating all 11 accused including CRPF Bihar IG Pushkar Singh. The interrogation has started revealing 8220;murky facts8221; about how CRPF officers and dozens of touts amassed crores of rupees in two years time,sources said.

Mukesh,the main conduit between CRPF officers and candidates,besides earning big money under cover of running a technical education centre,owns two luxury buses,sources said. The buses ply on inter-Bihar routes and were given on reserved services. The investigating agency also suspects that Mukesh may have used Swati to get deals 8220;sealed easily8221; with CRPF officers.

It is learnt that some constables posted at CRPF Patna office 8211; where IG Pushkar Singh had been posted 8211; may also be involved in the scam,working for Singh to trace candidates looking for a CRPF constable8217;s job. Sanjiv Kumar Singh name changed on request,a Jagdeo Path resident,said,A CRPF constable hailing from south India had approached me and my friend in 2007 with job offers. But we had no candidates and were also not keen on getting jobs by paying money.
