Serious differences have surfaced among Nepals ruling Maoists with a senior leader,Mohan Vaidya, threatening to part ways with strongman Prachanda and return to the jungle to start another peoples revolution.
The differences have surfaced over the issue of the Maoist party forming a coalition government with Madhesi parties.
Prachanda had sought clarification from Vaidya on Friday, two days after the latter held a meeting of his followers in the capital,Kathmandu.
Vaidya is learnt to have told Prachanda that he nad his supporters were not holding a separate meeting, but only organising an interactive training programme for party cadres.
During his meeting with Prachanda,Vaidya also warned that our ultimate destination is a peoples revolution and if the establishment does not agree with the idea,we are ready to go for that alone, the Annapurna Post reported on Saturday, quoting Posta Bahadur Bogati,a senior Maoist leader who is considered close to Prachanda.
Party Secretary C P Gajurel, who is considered to be a confidant of Vaidya, said the four-point agreement between the Maoists and the Joint Democratic Madhesi Alliance,a grouping of five Madhesi parties, was against the national interest. The agreement gives a blow to the sentiment of nationalism and national independence, he said.
The Vaidya faction has also opposed handing over of keys to the arms deopts to an all-party Special Committee by the leadership.Shirish B Pradhan
