After an initial probe found some truth in the manner in which an officer posted with the National Security Guard NSG parted with details about the forces deployment,post-Hyderabad blasts to a Pakistani intelligence officer,a court of inquiry CoI has been ordered into the incident.
The NSG had earlier ordered a high-level probe into the incident and on Wednesday Director General DG Arvind Ranjan ordered a CoI.
Besides the officer who spoke on phone to the Pakistani intelligence officer, the CoI will also look into the role of the telephone exchange operator who transferred the call. The CoI is the second step after the high level probe ordered by us last week. After some substance was found in the probe conducted by us,we decided to go for this too, said Arvind Ranjan,DG,NSG.
The Pakistani suspect first made a call to NSG headquarter in Delhi and identified himself as Major Ajay Sharma from Military Intelligence- III in Delhi. The telephone operator redirected the call to NSGs Hyderabad hub where it was received by an Army captain,on deputation with the force.
During the conversation, the officer on duty gave details about deployment of NSG team from regional hub in Hyderabad. A preliminary probe revealed that no details about the blasts or post blasts information was given. A CoI has been ordered by DG,NSG to go into the details under which the calls were connected to regional hub at Hyderabad and information passed to the unauthorised person, a statement issued by NSG said.
During the inquiry it was also found that before accessing the information from this particular officer, the caller had also tried the number of two other senior officers in the NSG who refused to part away with any kind of information.
The intelligence agencies informed the NSG top brass that the call was made by Mohammad Tasleem,a notorious Pakistani intelligence officer who was also expelled from the Pakistan High Commission in India few years ago.
