Cops told to net Pappu Yadav

The SC has ordered both the CBI and the DGP of Bihar to arrest former RJD MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav forthwith in the 1998 murder case of CPM leader Ajit Sarkar.

A Bench of Justices Markandeya Katju and A K Patnaik was surprised to note that Yadav was free even after the SC cancelled his bail on May 3,2010. The court found that neither did Yadav surrender nor was he taken into custody. Instead,he was back in the apex court for a review of the May 3 order and sought an exemption from surrender in the case.

The CBI and the Bihar DGP are directed to execute the order of this court,dated May 3,2010,forthwith and send a compliance report within four weeks from today, the Bench said.
